We’re Building fiber internet in St. Bernard Parish, starting Arabi! Getting back to where Parish Broadband started nearly 10 years ago, we’re building fiber to the home in St. Bernard Parish starting at the parish line in Arabi, with plans to continue into Chalmette and the rest of ‘da Parish. Eight years ago, we got our start on a radio tower by the Green Bridge offering fixed wireless internet service as ‘SouthWan Communications’ to businesses and residences in the parish, all the way out to Meraux. Now, we’re building a robust fiber network to serve the long term internet needs of St. Bernard Parish.
Over the next few weeks, you will begin to see our contractors working in the South side of Arabi (below St. Bernard Hwy). We will be directionally boring conduit (a trenchless and low impact way of installing conduit). We will be placing small fiber vaults along the streets to serve multiple homes which unlike other providers, none of which will protrude above ground keeping aesthetic in mind. We are working closely with the St. Bernard Office of Public Works and other utilities via Louisiana One Call (811) to ensure we don’t hit existing utilities like water and sewer. Even with these precautions it can happen. If we do hit any utilities we promise to fix and return everything to the way it was asap!
We are offering internet to the home and business simply, locally, and affordably. $45 /month flat community pricing (residential) for 1 gigabit fiber speeds, with no taxes or fees, no installation costs, and a free WiFi-7 router! We are a locally owned, owned (New Orleans) and globally connected.
Support. Our Network Operations and Support Center is based in Metairie, with our contractors and employees having roots in the greater New Orleans area. We want you to be able to get in touch with a real person if you need us. We don’t employ any AI, lengthy call trees, or chat bots to reach us. Call us old fashioned, but call us if you need us and we’ll answer the phone, and get you what you need! You can call us any time of day. If it’s after business hours, we’ll have someone on call who can call you back. And of course, you can always get in touch the new fashioned way and send us an email.
We are building out network to be robust. Unlike the other providers in the area, all of our fiber optic cables will be buried in the ground creating not just a more aesthetic, out-of-site look, but a resilient network more protected from storm impact. Parish Broadband is proud of it’s storm history. We operate a largely fixed wireless network across the greater New Orleans area that has stood up to to the last several hurricanes and tropical storms. When other providers were down, we largely remained online. We are building our St. Bernard network to be the same, if not more resilient with back-up power plant, fiber and microwave redundancy to our headend (which is also 5 feet above ground).
